Seager Marine Boat Tests the New Hurricane Deckboats
First look at the Hurricane Sundeck 2200 I/O. Gel work is 100%, no waves in the hull, straight as an arrow down the huge side. All the hardware is stainless steel, through bolted. Spring line cleats are standard. Cleats are big to accept ½ dock lines or better. Boarding ladders on the bow and at the huge swim platform, again stainless steel. The windshield is large and beefy and installed properly. The Bimini top is 1” stainless, huge, easy to erect and rattle free even in rough water. The instrumentation is automotive looking and most are packed in only two gauges. Lots of room to install a nice big Humminbird or Garmin GPS center stage. Hour meter is standard, standard stereo is ok, not high end. Vinyl is thick, but soft to the touch. All the stitching is straight, no bags in the vinyl anywhere. The snap in matting is comparable to the big guys like the Nautique, only Hurricanes can be taken out and snapped back in! Cockpit nonskid is beautiful. The stuff you see on a Tiara. No surprise I’m told the SD hulls were designed by a Tiara designer. The built in head compartment is pretty big, useable anyways. This is a two piece glass liner with a self-bailing cockpit. The only power option on this guy is a Mercruiser 6.3L MPI with a Bravo III outdrive as this is a big heavy boat with a wet weight around 5000lbs. In the water it acts like it looks big and heavy, not flighty. Hit the throttle and the boat lurches out of the water like a ski boat, flat and fast. As a matter of fact I bet it planes faster than most ski boat out there now! It fly’s right up to 52 mph in no time and rides way better than you would expect in a deck boat. It’s a nice riding boat in all conditions, you gotta try one! We all are thoroughly impressed with what we have here. These are going to sell well. She’s not a Chris Craft but I’d put it up against anyone’s glass I/O or deck boat!
